It is important to ask every cd duplication company that you are considering whether they will duplicate or replicate your discs. The same distinction applies between DVD duplication and DVD replication.
CD Duplication or DVD Duplication refers to burned CD-Rs or DVD-R , just like the CD-Rs that we have all burned on our personal computers at home or in the office. This is often referred to as short un CD duplication. Burned audio CDs can have playability issues in some CD players. This is becoming less and less of an issue for short run CD duplication but it still happens sometimes with older CD players. The main difference between CD Duplication or DVD duplication and CD Replication or DVD replication is the overall fit and finish of the disc and its longevity. CD Replication and DVD Replication is a superior product to CD Duplication or DVD Duplication but it is not always cost effective for lower CD and DVD runs. Short run CD Duplication and DVD Duplication offers a the most cost effective way to produce smaller runs of products. Short Run CD Duplication is perfect for smaller bands, start up data projects and new product lines.
CD Replication & DVD replication projects (500 CDs and above) are pressed in one of our ISO-9002 plants. This is the process of "stamping" your data into an injection molded CD or DVD. We cut a glass master in a Class 100 clean room or self enclosed LBR and mastering system. CD replication molding machines are specifically designed, high temperature, poly carbonate injection molders. They have an average throughput of 550-900 discs per hour, per molding line. These discs are like the audio discs or DVD movies you buy at major retailer like Best Buy. These CD replications are silver bottomed. The silver look is because of the aluminum is used to reflect the laser that is used when you play your CD or DVD. The process is less expensive than CD Duplication or DVD duplication because your data is pressed into the construction of the CD if you are doing 1000 pieces or more.
CD Duplication & DVD Duplication are better for faster turn times, since a CD or DVD stamper does not need to be made. The CD duplication process can begin as soon as a master is received.
