Flex VCD ™® Thin DVD-5 Disc (4.7GB) is the latest technology in the DVD manufacturing sector. The single layer format has the same capacity of a DVD-5 (4.7GB), but is half the thickness of a standard DVD. This new disc format is literally "flexible". Designed, engineered, and tested. This new format is ideal for any disc based direct mail application due to its resilience to breakage, shattering, and cracking. All discs are inspected for defects and measurements are taken from samples to ensure that the high quality standards are maintained.

The flexible disc utilizes 50% less polycarbonate. This make the Flex VCD the most environmentally friendly Disc on the market today. The “environmentally-friendly” tag is further enhanced by the fact it does not require the use of non-biodegradable bonder. Some 1.16 billion discs were distributed as inserts or covermount in 2005 in Western Europe. Over 18,000 tons of polycarbonate were used for the production of these discs.

These flexible thinner Discs are perfect for corporate mailings. The thin Flex VCD can easily run over production machines of print offices and finishers without being damaged or coming off the paper. With a weight of 8 grams, postal charges can be reduced. The Flex VCD is suitable for machine packaging such as boxes or wallets or sleeves and can be screen printed to the inside rim.
